We all want avenues to save some bucks. Right? Yea, I am going to show you how to get a domain name for free.
To have a website, you require a domain name and of course a hosting plan.
Your domain name is basically your website’s “address”. It is what people type into the browser or search engine. I always advice that domain names should be as simple as possible and relevant and easy for people to remember.
Let me quickly mention here that buying a fresh domain will cost between $10 and $20 a year. Depending on whether you are going for a top-level domains (TLDs) or country code top-level domains (ccTLDs).
TLDs are domain name extensions, like .com, .net, .org and .edu. While ccTLDs are country-specific domain name extensions, such as .ng (Nigeria).uk (United Kingdom) or fr.(France).
In this blog post I will show you the best way to get any domain of your choice for free. Just go to Bluehost
So instead of paying as much as $20 a year for a domain, you can get it for free for one year from Bluehost!
So, you are just starting out in blogging or want to take your business online from a local market or a brick and wall to a virtual location, which the internet provides, where anyone in the globe can easily access your content, product or services.
Let’s jump straight to it, following these five simple steps.
This is how I get most of the website domain I have built for free. Follow my lead let’s do this together.
As I pointed out earlier, to start a website you need a hosting plan, provided by a hosting company like Bluehost
The guys at Bluehost are by far the best when it comes to choosing a hosting company, especially for a WordPress website. They have the one of the cheapest Plans and best support team in the industry.
Step 1: Go to Bluehost’s Website
When you are on the website, the next thing you have to do is hover on HOSTING from the top menu bar. (See red arrow on image below)
Follow this process carefully, we want to be able to save some bucks by getting a free domain name and only pay for the hosting plan.
Step 2: Select Your Hosting Type
In the drop-down, you are offered three types of hosting plans: Shared Hosting, Dedicated Hosting, and VPS Hosting. Click on Share Hosting.
Step 3: Choose Your Web Hosting Plan
Click on Shared Hosting. Scroll down to find hosting plans within the Shared Hosting. I suggest you select the BASIC because it is cost effective for lean startups and SMEs. But, if you have the budget for the PLUS, CHOICE PLUS or PRO by all means go for it. You will still get domain for free, which is our goal!
Step 4: Register Your Domain
After you select a subscription plan, you will be asked by Bluehost to set up your domain.
You will then be given two options:
Select the “Create a new domain“ option. Here you can search for available domains.
Enter the domain that you want to buy into the search bar and choose your domain extension. Your options include the following:
Step 5: Go ahead create account and purchase
Now that you’ve chosen a domain name, go ahead and create your Bluehost account and purchase your hosting plan.
In the Package Extras section. You can check the Domain Privacy + Protection option or remove it. But I advise you select it, it will help protect your privacy by hiding your name, email, phone number, and address from appearing on a public database.
It will help to keep hackers away!
And that is it!
Congratulations you now have a free domain name and reliable hosting plan at Bluehost.
